Traction asynchronous motor of DAT-72 type

The motor is designed for electric drive of low-floor tram car operated in temperate climate conditions. The motor is an asynchronous electric machine with squirrel cage rotor and three-phase winding on the stator. The power supply is provided by a voltage inverter with pulse width modulation.

Two motors can be operated from one inverter. The DAT-72 motor and its modifications are manufactured with two tapered shaft ends. At the end of the shaft on the drive side the consumer installs a coupling half for connection with the coupling half of the drive shaft of the gearbox.

The other shaft end is fitted with a disc of the electromechanical parking brake system. The motor is air-cooled and self-cooled. In order to increase the service life of the electric motor, to protect against electrical erosion of bearings and to ensure the degree of protection of the shell IP56 in the traction asynchronous electric motor DAT-72 shaft grounding rings and current-isolated bearings are installed.
