The model is intended for use as a demonstration handout when studying the course of anatomy in secondary and higher medical schools.
The model represents one of the parts of the inner ear - the bony labyrinth, which is divided into three parts:
the middle or central one, called the vestibulum;
the front cochlea (cochlea);
the posterior canal, which includes the three semicircular canals (canales semicirculares).
The model is enlarged 15 times.
The model can be easily removed from the stand for easy display. The model is colour and number coded:
1. Anterior semicircular canal.
2. lateral semicircular canal.
3. Posterior or frontal semicircular canal.
4. Auditory nerve.
5. Vestibular nerve.
Cochlear whorls: 6. Apex. 7. Median. 8. Primary.
The model is made of polyurethane foam, fixed on a stand.
