Remote Methane Detector SELMA Dome for Efficient Gas Leak Detection

The SELMA Dome remote methane detector is a vehicle-mounted device used for remote detection of methane gas leaks using laser technology. The optical unit of the SELMA Dome detector is mounted stationary or on the vehicle in such a way that the optical axes of the receiving mirror and the laser beam can be directed towards the target. The laser emits a 1 ms pulse in pulse mode.

The laser radiation is reflected by a topographic object (soil, grass, trees, etc.); part of the reflected radiation is picked up by the receiving mirror and focused on the photodetector. Thus, the signals of the photodetector in the analytical channel of the instrument contain information about the complete absorption of laser radiation by methane on the path of the laser beam to the target. The optical unit also includes a reference channel, in which part of the laser radiation passes through the cell and acts as a reference parameter.
