The acoustic positioning complex "Positioning station with ultra-short base "PIKET-USBL" is designed to determine positions (coordinates) of bottom equipment.
The positioning station equipment sends a request signal to the beacon-responder. Having received the request signal, the responder beacon sends a reply. The delay time of the response relative to the request determines the distance between the station antenna and the beacon antenna.
Comparative tests of the underwater positioning system of AKIN JSC and the Sonardyne complex showed that the positioning accuracy of the Russian complex is higher than similar equipment, and the mass and dimensional parameters of the complex are noticeably more compact than the existing analogues.
